Leading Rail Tech Company Offloads Hosting and Atlassian Tool Management

Overview

Our client, a leader in the railway technology space, needed a way to host their Atlassian products without having to manage the infrastructure themselves. The client wanted an integrated service that included the management, maintenance, and support of their server, as well as access to someone with extensive expertise in managing the Atlassian product suite.

They turned to Praecipio to help them design a managed hosting solution that would deliver optimal performance from both the server and Atlassian tools, all while generating cost savings and optimizing their ROI. The Challenge

Our client’s previous hosting solution did not meet their ROI objectives. Even though they had hired a third-party vendor to host their Atlassian applications, they were still responsible for managing their infrastructure and application stack. Additionally, the previous hosting provider was slow to respond to any issues raised by the client.

They experienced significant performance and stability issues, along with frequent outages and downtime. This made their Atlassian tools unreliable and negatively impacted the user experience. Our client realized that their IT was not aligned with business goals and reached out to the Praecipio team for help.

The Solution

We worked closely with our client’s subject matter experts to fully understand their Atlassian use and configuration. We also wanted to ensure that their infrastructure and tools connected with their business strategy. 

Before migrating their applications to Cumulus, our comprehensive cloud hosting solution designed for running business applications (including Atlassian products), we built out hosts that supported our client’s instances and requirements. This included setting up a site-to-site VPN connection, firewall and load balancer rules, SSL certificate placement, and finally, DNS changes from their old hosting vendor to Cumulus. After setting up Cumulus for the client, we successfully transferred their systems and data to the new infrastructure.
