The Best Thing AI Did for Our Team Wasn't What I Expected

Our AI Incubator team launched in the Summer of 2025 using Claude Sonnet 3.7. We immediately saw the impact it would have on our business and for our clients. We were focused on the business case - faster delivery, better outcomes for our clients, and a competitive edge in the Atlassian ecosystem. Those outcomes were compelling enough on their own. What I didn’t see coming was the impact Claude would have on our culture.

I’ve been a hands-on consultant my whole career. I grew up in delivery - developer (C and Unix!), Infrastructure, program\transformation management, account development through great delivery and into consulting leadership. Last summer I realized there was the way we’ve always done it (consulting), and then there will be the way we do it going forward (consulting + Agentic AI).

There was then, and continues to be, a lot of noise in the market around the impact of AI and jobs. I knew as a former delivery consultant I had to give our team a vision of the future - that our AI transformation would not be a cost cutting exercise, rather, it was a decision to bet on our people by giving them a platform (Claude Code) that would make them more capable. I knew it would also set them up for the next phase of their career as a consultant.

I’m not sure everyone believed me at first. That’s fair. Words from the CEO are easy, transformation is not. But something started to shift, and it didn’t happen the way I expected. The first thing I noticed wasn’t a KPI, it was the energy in the room (including virtual rooms). Interactions started changing. Our people who had spent years doing great consulting work, with real expertise and experience, started using our platform (the Praecipio Intelligence Gateway built on Claude) and seeing what was possible in their delivery. Not anxiety, rather excitement. The light started to go on, that this would be the new way for how consulting gets done to achieve client outcomes.

We built the Intelligence Gateway on Claude Code - an agentic AI powered platform that takes 20 years of Praecipio consulting experience, best practices, logic (“context”) with orchestrated AI agents to do work while the consultant, consults. More time with the client. More time thinking while the platform is doing. Consultants started using the platform, pride in what we built spread, more consultants wanted to be enabled on Claude Code to use, and interact with, the platform based on the client’s unique environment and business. The initial light, or spark, was turning into a blue flame and spreading across the organization.

When we landed our Claude Partner Network partnership, something interesting happened internally. Yes, it was a business milestone. Yes, it opened doors. But what I watched happen with my team was something different. It was validation. From one of the most consequential AI companies in the world, that what we were building was real, that the direction we had chosen mattered, and that the people doing the work were genuinely at the forefront of something important. You can't manufacture that feeling.

AI is having a positive impact on our culture, it brought the team together to solve problems in new (and faster) ways. The consultant + AI model is about doing work that wasn’t possible before, at a level that wasn’t reachable before, and with a sense of pride and purpose that I didn’t anticipate. Praecipio will thrive on this energy, refreshed purpose, and collaborative culture that AI has provided to us. The momentum we are feeling is hard to put into words, we are having fun and bonding together during this monumental human shift in how work gets done.
